They Live

put down the poets
stop them from injecting pathos into our otherwise safe and ordinary lives

banish them after some shock treatment
so they don’t take memories with them into exile

force them to take up better employment
and make them labour until they bleed

because if they can’t give us jest
how can they cater to our other needs
