wanted to write you…
but could not

and that’s how I knew
I was truly untangled from our lover’s knot

Purple Passage for the Pen & Peace Man

I don’t mind how you go about it
As long as you don’t write like the Parnassians
Without mystery and in a form so rigid and strict
That leaves nothing to the imagination

But first, accolades you must detest
Along with so-called success
Which tends to be the profligate lifestyles licensed to the licentious
Tammany of literati elects…

Oh yes, I too once wondered upon encountering Kipling’s works
If the Nobel he received at 42 was well deserved
But then again it is said to be the only kind of honour he was happy to accept
That privileged freemason who vacationed at Rhodes’ Groote Schuur estate in The Woolsack

I even dove deeper into the ponderings as I was already in that mindset
Questioning if it wasn’t just the face of death that brought Nobel to near proper sense
But having invented dynamite and amassing wealth from the business of armaments
To then establish a prize for peace just seemed to one a little berserk
So certainly for those honours – one has no respect
Nor for the fanciful principles of moral approbation
Because all I really care for is to write with great erudition

forethought is exercised to a degree by the individual
but far less on a broader social level

the world is a vast network
in which one serves the rest
and the rest serve him in turn

from a sociological perspective, it could be argued that the reason why interest rates are still at lows is because of the vast importance individuals currently attach to the future

Vigil & Vice

nocturnal adventure
typical of a vernal night

sacred pleasure
the lily-livered ones might consider vice

still, by all measure
a sight
I had never
experienced in all my life

to laugh at one’s self
is a show of insightful revelation

it is a proven fact that the intellect of a majority is always inferior to the individual’s
so any force that bases its legitimacy on quantified backing will inevitably violate individual sovereignty

take how we consent to be ‘governed’ by the result of a count, in the process
failing to acknowledge that no man secures liberty simply because he can cast a vote; voting and rights having no real measurable relation

this can be rightly understood when one realises that a man who truly has a right
can never be deprived of it by the mere votes of other men.

Echoes of Existence

most men know to search for, and assign meaning to, existence
in order that they can continue to grow, but only a few will give thought to the universal –
accepting there is nothing more to the word, twice mentioned afore, other than that it is a thing conceivable, which makes life a door that is open for one to explore

to establish a peace
meet with those you wish to appease
and sit down to eat
for that activity alone will put most of man’s primal motives to sleep
