High up ‘O sole mio iii

the ideal of love
in my experience
is ofttimes stronger than the (f)act…

it takes you high
like going to a Kingdom in the Sky through the Sani Pass…
so exhilarating and dangerous

I remember that summer of ’11
the soundtrack was Nostalgia, Ultra by Frank Ocean
at the Italian restaurant by the marina in Port Solent
which had on one of its walls a print of a Frank Stella Black Painting

we were under the stars and above the sea
and I whispered in your ear
Sail with me to São Tomé,
I hear the seas are as sweet as their cane.
Fail your happy home,
And I will let go my fears as if on ibogaine.

then we held hands and embraced
soaking in the harmonious charge
for we connected on a higher plane
even though we always tried hard to avoid PDA

so back to what I was saying
that the ideal of love
in my experience
has ofttimes been stronger than the (f)act…

because to this day
the feelings we shared remain
even though you’re not here

Right, Heath. Powerful feelings and ideas of love, also nostalgia, draw us in like a dream we desire to enter. Then reality brings us back down to earth.

Totally! I seem to remember a very wise woman writing ”I have shed my romantic ideals. Instead I see the beauty of partners shaping a lifetime of history together out of what was given them. ” know her by any chance? 🙂
