and it ends with a dance
Posted: November 4, 2015 Filed under: Words In Imaginary Motion 7 Commentsmay have given thought to the idea of marriage once before
and the reasons I figured I’d never go down that road
must have numbered at least five
but on that day we first met
at rehearsal for our friends’ wedding dance routine
something in my soul said that I, and far too soon, had found a wife
I guess there’s some truth to what they say
about the wedding guest curse
that at those events… singles too, often find a match
and ain’t it funny that it was just happenstance
how it was there that our paths came to intersect
and how coincidental
that moments after I had joked that we’d be next
you did go on to catch the bouquet
so now that you’re in the Burg
and I in the Cape
both way too busy and away from home
all we can do is text
and when I do flirt
I try to put it all in the context
of just two strangers who once upon a time shared a dance

It is a sublime blessing, to have met the mate of one’s soul, at the confirming ceremony of others.

putting it in your words is so much more romantic, righteous one π

How many women such as this have walked through my presence?
Mmmm… but one still lingers, not too far away.
Lovely in the telling, Heath. Absolutely lovely.

Oh my… more than once, my friend… but only one still simmering. : )
Writing it made me laugh, too. π
