a promise is credit ii
Posted: June 19, 2016 | Author: Heath Muchena | Filed under: Character Sayings |3 Commentsthe promise or indeed the prospect of recognition
is good enough bait
that all one has to do is wait
for the catch to reel it in
because the desire to be heard or seen
will time and again prove too great
a temptation to resist… as all things related to credit
so clearly, an inherent weakness of the human being

Is this like “virtue is its own reward”? I like your poem.

You’re absolutely spot on. I’m impressed… thanks for opening my eyes to that parallel, I hadn’t made that connection, but indeed the negation of virtue as symbolised in that idiom is bound to manifest in what is inferred in the poem 🙂
