The Only Way Is Up

at times he felt he’d had enough
of living rough
with no dough, no loaf, or duff

and when the going got too tough
as though he’d been searching for gold
in Guatemala’s Zone 3 dump
he almost lost all hope

but he never gave up
so when most were sleeping he was up
and when they woke he was still up
’til his state of affairs got better
and things were on the up and up
