The Emperor of Excess

So masterful at facilitating a deal
You’d think Adnan Khashoggi was low key his idol for real
Always willing to take the risk, his credo was ‘whatever it takes’
Always wanting more, he could never settle for less
Charming as he was, he had a heart of steel
A true emperor of excess and what a shame, profligacy kills

Green Grove

higher levels of wellbeing
and greater social cohesion
these things we desire and dream
though we fail to design into reality or so it seems
the fabric of society is frayed at the seams

because when prosperity means having excess material things
nothing can rescind our instincts for acquisition
and where there’s greed, envy is green
but not the shade of something flourishing

Social Scales

The insatiable appetite of the consumer
Complements constant innovation by the enterpriser
So to tilt the scales in your favour
Lean on the side of the creator

On impetus

Inspiration comes from within and motivation from influences outward
So we ought to find first our highest values before springing into action
In order that the pursuit of purpose is held in high regard
That way we can move in the right direction
Inspired and motivated to work hard

A Song for Alyssa too

Time with you is always gone too soon
Like the sun in the south when it’s June
But I hope even when the seasons change
In your heart there’ll still be room

Hold me tight and wear my embrace
Until my scent becomes your perfume
Blame my imagination on this full moon
But I see visions of our child from the womb to your bosom

So beautiful
Like a flower in full bloom
